Orbis

A multilingual fundraising website for a global team of campaign managers.

Orbis is an international non-profit that gives communities across the world access to high quality eye care, transforming lives and restoring vision for those who need it most.

The organisation needed to upgrade their Craft CMS from v2 to v3. They chose us to take care of their website for all their global territories, as well as upgrade site performance, security and design.

We are passionate about using our skills to help organisations like Orbis to change the world for the better, and are proud to be their long-term web technology provider.

OUR APPROACH

Content Testing

The site had grown massively since it was first launched in 2018, and had lots of multisite features added for different global territories. Unfortunately, the way this was implemented by Orbis’ previous supplier was not compatible with the new version of Craft CMS. When we took over the site in 2020 our first task was to solve this incompatibility.

We built bespoke site-testing tools, including applications that would automatically check that all the content in every territory worked in the new multisite framework.

OUR APPROACH

Minimised Downtime and super performant

We created a staged deployment and content lockdown plan to ensure minimal disruption to 24-hour global fundraising.

The entire site was redesigned to be consistent, clean, fast and responsive on mobile. It was also SEO optimised, in collaboration with Orbis’ marketing agency.

One of the most challenging Craft upgrades we’ve ever done, but delivered with minimal downtime. The team at Orbis use and change their site more than any other client we’ve worked with – adapting to changing fundraising strategies across 10+ territory-specific and multilingual versions of the site.
