A digital platform designed to inspire action and support life-saving cancer research and care.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity funds pioneering research, state-of-the-art equipment, and world-leading patient care. 
To support its ambitious fundraising goals, the Charity needed a new website that was not only technically robust, but emotionally resonant and effortless to use.

OUR APPROACH
Discovery with empathy at the core
We kicked off the project with a series of collaborative workshops focused on user personas, empathy mapping, brand pillars, and tone of voice. 
These sessions helped us understand the needs of supporters, patients, families, and researchers, guiding decisions that ensured every part of the experience would be purposeful, inclusive, and clear.
From there, we restructured the site’s information architecture to simplify navigation and improve discoverability, ensuring users can find stories, events, and donation pathways quickly, across devices.
OUR APPROACH
Evolving the brand
Working with RMCC’s internal team, we introduced a refreshed visual language that feels more uplifting and accessible, including a new colour palette, updated typography, and custom iconography. 
These updates modernised the brand while maintaining a strong sense of trust and integrity.
We brought in subtle visual storytelling throughout the site, including emotive hero statements, multi-image clusters, curved shapes that echo the brand identity, and thoughtful transitions that add moments of joy without distraction.

TECHNOLOGy
Built on Craft CMS for Flexibility and Scale
The new site is built on a headless Craft CMS architecture, delivering a fast, secure, and scalable frontend, statically hosted with flexible content management for the RMCC team.
We designed and developed a modular page-builder system using Craft’s custom fields and permissions. Editors now have complete control over layouts, CTAs, and campaign content without relying on developers.



INTEGRATIONS
Seamless giving and data integrations
Donation journeys were reimagined using the Fundraise Up API, delivering a smooth, high-converting experience. Donation modules were embedded throughout the site and styled to match the brand, with support for recurring giving and ReCaptcha security.
To ensure operational efficiency, we integrated the site with: 
- Raiser’s Edge NXT (via middleware) for automated donor data syncing
- Adestra for email list segmentation via form integration
- Loqate for address lookup and data accuracy
All data is securely handled and optimised for GDPR compliance, supporting long-term supporter engagement and internal reporting.

THE FUTURE
Ongoing support & evolution
Our work with The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity didn’t stop at launch. As part of a long-term partnership, we continue to support the site through an active service-level agreement (SLA) that includes maintenance, design, development, and strategic enhancements.
Under this agreement, RMCC benefits from:
- Ongoing Craft CMS and plugin updates
- Security patches, performance monitoring, and uptime tracking
- Bug fixes and technical support
- Monthly UX and design enhancements using pre-purchased production time
- Regular performance assessments and improvement recommendations
- Monthly status calls with our dedicated project team
We see ourselves as an extension of the RMCC team, not just maintaining the platform, but helping it grow, adapt, and deliver more impact over time.
