Watford Colosseum

A digital platform celebrating the next chapter of one of the UK's most iconic live entertainment venues.

Following an extensive restoration, Watford Colosseum reopened under the management of AEG Presents, combining its rich Art Deco heritage with a renewed programme of world-class live entertainment.

Watford Colosseum is part of our ongoing partnership with AEG Presents, where we've designed and built digital platforms for festivals, venues and live entertainment brands across the UK and Europe. Following the success of Eventim Apollo, we were commissioned to create a new digital experience that reflected Watford Colosseum's refreshed identity while building on a proven technical foundation.

OUR APPROACH

A new identity built on proven foundations

Having previously delivered the Eventim Apollo website, we were able to build upon a digital platform that had already proven itself across one of the UK's busiest entertainment venues.

Rather than starting from scratch, we evolved the user interface to reflect Watford Colosseum's unique personality. Drawing inspiration from the venue's heritage, architecture and renewed visual identity, we created a website that feels distinctive while maintaining familiar user journeys for discovering events, purchasing tickets and planning visits.

This approach allowed us to deliver a bespoke digital experience efficiently, balancing creative expression with a platform that has already been tested under the demands of live entertainment.

OUR APPROACH

Designed around the visitor experience

Whether visitors are booking tickets for an international artist, finding accessibility information or planning an evening at the venue, every journey was designed to be simple and intuitive.

Clear navigation, responsive layouts and carefully structured content ensure audiences can quickly access upcoming events, venue information and ticket links across every device.

The result is a website that complements the experience of visiting the venue itself, helping audiences spend less time searching and more time engaging with live entertainment.

OUR APPROACH

A shared platform, a unique identity

The website is powered by the same headless Craft CMS architecture that underpins our wider portfolio of AEG Presents websites. Rather than rebuilding each platform from scratch, we evolve a proven technical foundation, allowing every venue and festival to benefit from exceptional performance, scalability and editorial flexibility.

Using a shared component library, we adapt the frontend to reflect each venue's own character, ensuring every website feels unique while giving AEG a consistent and efficient content management experience.

The platform includes:

- Headless Craft CMS architecture
- Flexible modular page builder
- Dynamic event management
- Artist and venue pages
- Ticketing integration
- Mobile-first responsive design
- SEO optimisation
- High-performance hosting and caching
- Secure, scalable infrastructure built for high traffic volumes

This approach allows AEG Presents to launch new venue brands faster, reduce development overhead and maintain a consistent digital ecosystem across its growing entertainment portfolio.
